The Lake was created by the construction of Bagnell Dam. The shoreline of Lake of the Ozarks is, incredibly, greater than 1,150 miles, more than the coastline of the entire state of California; this allows visitors and residents to enjoy a plethora of recreational activities. These activities include two scenic state parks, boats, boating, camping, parasailing, water-skiing, spelunking, water parks, excursion cruises, scuba-diving, bungi-jumping, tubing, swimming, horseback riding, mountain biking, golf, miniature golf, fishing, and more.
The Lodge of Four Seasons has been named "Best in Midwest" in the current issue of Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine. The September 2006 issue features the results of the 2006 Worlds Best Golf Resorts.
Each year, Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine asks their readers to rank hundreds of golf properties on various criteria to find out which ones they believe to be the worlds best. Participating readers in the Midwest region chose The Lodge of Four Seasons as the only golf resort and spa not located in Michigan or Wisconsin to receive this ranking.
For the entire Midwest region, The Lodge ranked in the top three in the following categories: Best Resorts for Family Trips - Best Restaurants . and Best for Spa/Gym for Spa Shiki.
